🌊🌿 CUSHION COVERS CROCHET PATTERNS VOL 2 — COASTAL BANKSIA & WARATAH 🌿🌊

Two pieces of the Australian coast for your sofa: a pair of 40 × 40 cm (16 in) cushion covers in tapestry single crochet, worked from full colour charts — a chunky banksia cone with long serrated leaves, and three spiky waratah heads, each picture in a framed border of coastal blues and greens. Plain envelope backs: no zip, no buttons, and the covers slip off for washing.

HOW THESE ARE MADE — honestly: the pictures are tapestry crochet, worked into the fabric stitch by stitch from the charts as you go. Nothing is sewn on, nothing is surface-embellished afterwards. Each front is one flat panel of 72 stitches × 80 rows; the pattern gives you BOTH the full colour chart AND every row written out in full, run by run, generated from the same chart data — so the chart, the written rows and the yarn table can never disagree.

🌊 DESIGN 1 — BANKSIA CUSHION COVER
One big banksia, front and centre: a chunky cone in Dusty Blue, dimpled with Pale Blue bobble dots and shaded in Deep Teal, sitting in a Sage Green cup of bracts on a Sage stem, with eight serrated Teal leaves fanning around it — the tall pair sweeping up beside the cone, just as they grow along the Australian coast.

🌿 DESIGN 2 — WARATAH CUSHION COVER
Three waratah heads in Teal, their pointed bracts breaking into spikes along each dome, with Dusty Blue highlights and Deep Teal cups. The centre flower stands tallest on a curving Sage stem; the side pair sit lower, with serrated Teal leaves dressing the stems. The waratah turned the colour of the sea.

🖼️ THE FRAMED BORDER (both covers)
Every front carries the same frame, charted as part of the panel: bands of Dusty Blue, Sage Green, a Cream pinstripe, Teal and a final Cream pinstripe around the pale-blue picture. The pattern includes a magnified corner diagram drawn from the chart itself, so the bands are easy to learn.

🧮 EVERY STITCH COUNTED
Front panels 72 sts × 80 rows at a gauge of 18 tapestry sc × 20 rows = 10 cm. Every row is written out with its colour runs and its [72 sc] count, and every count in this pack has been computer-checked before printing. The yarn table sits right up front: per cover and per colour, in metres, yards, grams and 50 g balls — 12,404 stitches and about 372 m per cover, counted stitch by stitch.

🧶 YARN: DK (8 ply) cotton in 6 colours — Pale Blue, Cream, Dusty Blue, Teal, Deep Teal and Sage Green. Ten 50 g balls make the pair (4 Cream, 2 Pale Blue, 1 of each other colour). You will also need a 4.0 mm hook, a yarn needle, and a 40 cm cushion insert for each cover.

✂️ SKILL LEVEL: intermediate — confident single crochet and tidy colour changes are all it takes; the pattern explains carrying yarns tapestry-style, changing colour cleanly and reading the charts row by row. US terms throughout, with UK equivalents in the table up front.

🎁 A beautiful make for beach houses, coastal rooms and anyone who loves Australian wildflowers — banksia and waratah are two of the most iconic blooms in the Aussie bush, here in the sea-glass colours of our coastline.

📥 INSTANT DOWNLOAD: one print-ready A4 PDF, 18 pages — cover, before-you-start and technique pages, yarn totals, the framed-border guide with colour key, both full colour charts, both sets of written rows, backs and assembly, and blocking, finishing and care notes. No physical item will be posted.
