Description

Christmas for the teapot, Aussie style: a rich-brown Christmas Pudding cozy with cream custard worked right into its dome and crocheted holly and berries on top; a bright-red Santa cozy with a fluffy cream fur band, a black belt with a gold buckle, and a pom beside the knob; and a sage Gumnut cozy wearing a little crocheted wreath — green ring, red berries, gold bow and three tiny gumnut caps. Every cozy comes in two sizes — Small for the classic 2-cup pot and Large for 4–6-cup pots — and all three share one clever body pattern, so once you have made one you have made them all. From our Aussie family shop, they keep the tea hot from the first early cup to the last slice of Christmas cake — no snow required.

REAL OPENINGS, HONESTLY DESCRIBED: these are not tubes with the spout forced under the hem. Each body begins as two flat panels, and the gap left between the panels at each side is a real vertical slit (about 3.8 cm wide, 5.0 cm tall in Small and 6.7 cm in Large). The spout slips through one slit and the handle through the other, the panels are bridged into one piece above the slits, and two little crocheted ties at each slit tie closed in a bow under the spout and the handle. At the top the dome closes to a small ring (about 2.4 cm across) that your teapot’s lid knob pops through, with a crocheted loop handle behind it for lifting the cozy off.

THE CUSTARD, THE BELT AND THE LITTLE PIECES, HONESTLY DESCRIBED: the pudding’s custard is not a separate cap — it is colourwork worked into the dome rounds themselves, ending in six long Cream drip stitches so the edge drips unevenly, exactly as custard does. Santa’s belt is a separate crocheted band wrapped around the finished cozy and stitched at the back, with a small gold-frame buckle stitched on the front; his fur band is real loop stitch worked into the panel rows. The holly leaves and berries, the pom, and the whole gumnut wreath — ring, berries, bow and gumnut caps — are each crocheted as separate pieces and stitched on with a yarn needle. That is how these pieces are truly made, and the pattern says exactly that, with counted stitches for every piece and plain instructions for where each one is sewn. Nothing is glued, anywhere.

WHAT’S INSIDE THE 17-PAGE PDF
• The shared body pattern in both sizes — two ribbed panels (half double crochet through the back loop, a thick insulating stitch) with an accent hem band, joined into the round over chain bridges, then domed with counted decrease rounds to the knob ring: 72 stitches around and 13.3 cm tall (Small), 96 stitches around and 17.5 cm tall (Large), every round written out with its count
• The Christmas Pudding: the custard colourwork dome (a counted drip round plus four full custard rounds — 126 custard stitches, the same in both sizes), 3 holly leaves from a width model with a chart drawn from the same model, and 3 berry bobbles
• The Santa: two Cream loop-stitch fur rows in the panels, a separate black belt band worked in 3 rows at the full circumference (72 stitches per row in Small, 96 in Large) with a gold buckle frame and black centre square, and a fluffy loop-stitch pom
• The Gumnut wreath: a 144-stitch green ring (about 7.6 cm across), 6 berry bobbles, a gold bow with knotted centre, loops and tails, and 3 tiny gumnut caps
• A yarn totals table up front — every cozy, every size, every colour costed in metres, yards, grams and 50 g balls, counted stitch by stitch (one ball of each of the seven colours makes a full set in one size, with yarn to spare)
• Measuring-your-teapot guide, finishing and washing notes, and an honestly-labelled optional fabric lining (a simple extra you cut and tack in yourself — the cozy is complete and warm without it)
