The centrepiece is our turkey lidded treat pot — a firm ribbed pot in warm tan with a flat lid, the turkey’s own head rising from it with embroidered eyes, a little mustard beak, two thin red wattle strands, and sixteen flat feather pieces in rust, gold, burgundy, chestnut and tan fanned around his back and sides. Around him: three big maple leaf trivets in gold, rust and chestnut, a cream hand towel finished with a fringe of nine little hanging autumn leaves, and two plump grooved pumpkins for the shelf. From our Aussie family shop, a joyful nod to our American friends’ Thanksgiving table — the same autumn palette runs through all four pieces, so the set looks gathered, not matched.
PLEASE NOTE — HONESTLY: the turkey pot is for DRY OR WRAPPED TREATS ONLY (wrapped sweets, nuts in shells, biscuits on a liner) — he is crochet, not a food container. The maple leaf trivets are decorative trivets for WARM dishes — a teapot or a casserole that has stood a few minutes; they are single-layer cotton, so for a dish straight from a hot oven, double up two leaves. The bench, chair, pinecones and wheat in the photos are the setting only — everything crocheted is patterned in full.
