Twelve cat toys worked firmly in durable cotton worsted with a 4.0 mm hook, from our Aussie family shop: two catnip mice, a catnip fish, the all-important kicker stick, a jingle ball with its bought bell fully enclosed, a mini catnip koala straight out of the Australian bush, two wands, a catnip carrot, a springy spiral, a crinkle disc and a gum leaf an Aussie cat can chase across the floorboards. Australia does cats with personality, and these toys are built for them — tight stitches, doubled-yarn seams and embroidered faces, never plastic eyes.
This collection includes 12 original patterns: Catnip Mouse, Catnip Fish, Kicker Stick, Jingle Ball, Catnip Koala Mini, Wand Streamers, Catnip Carrot, Spiral Spring Toy, Mouse on a String, Feather Wand, Crinkle Disc and Catnip Gum Leaf.
Each of the 12 patterns includes:
• Its own dedicated solo photo page — every pattern photographed individually
• Pattern-at-a-glance box (type, finished size, pieces, yarn, level)
• Full round-by-round and row-by-row instructions in US crochet terms, with the stitch count stated at the end of every round and row

Safety is built into this book, not bolted on: the Getting Started section covers supervised play, bought inserts (the jingle bell and crinkle film, stated in their patterns) fully enclosed with doubled-yarn seams, and inspecting and retiring worn toys. Make a toy an evening and rotate the set — Aussie cats from kitten to big laid-back moggy are catered for, and every toy is a small, satisfying gift for the cat people in your life.
Skill level: Confident beginner. Durable cotton or cotton-blend worsted yarn, 4.0 mm (US G-6) hook, worked firmly. Toys from about 6 cm (mouse) to about 22 cm (kicker stick).
