And every beanie has a small Aussie animal KNITTED RIGHT INTO its front panel from a colour chart — part of the knitting itself, never sewn or embroidered on afterwards. Soft pastel shades throughout — soft coral, mint, peach, sky blue, cream and butter yellow.
Meet the animals: a sugar glider between the Karri cables, a numbat in the Marri moss stitch, a frill-neck lizard on the Jarrah garter earflaps, a cassowary chick on the Tuart top-down, a dingo pup in the Wandoo lace waves, a tree kangaroo in the Boab rib, a bandicoot under the Coolgardie diamonds, a wallaby across the Mallee stripes, a spotted quoll on the Pindan panels, a thorny devil in the Salmon Gum honeycomb, a little penguin in the River Red Gum lace, and a pink galah on the Wattlebird pom-pom beanie.
Each of the 12 patterns includes:

Skill level: Confident beginner (the cable, lace, honeycomb and stranded designs are intermediate). DK weight yarn, 3.25 mm needles. The Boab Rib Tree Kangaroo is the hardest-working beanie in the set — it stretches with an Aussie baby for months.
