Description
🏜️ OUTBACK LANDSCAPES QUILT BLOCKS — TWELVE DESERT SCENES, STITCHED
Picture the red centre at last light: Uluru glowing, the domes of Kata Tjuta turning purple, a billabong still and silver under the ghost gums. We’re Al and Tina from our Aussie family shop, and this collection turns the country beyond the coast into a quilt — twelve appliqué blocks of desert Australia, from a road train rolling past the sign to a night sky so full of stars they look close enough to touch, all finished with rust-red binding.
Every block finishes at 10in, and between them the twelve scenes carry 202 appliqué pieces: Uluru Sunset, Kata Tjuta, Kings Canyon, Desert Dunes & Camel, Billabong, Ghost Gums, Windmill & Tank, Road Train Sign, Spinifex Plain, Gorge Swimming Hole, Station Homestead and Starry Desert Night.
📋 WHAT’S INSIDE
- 🪡 All twelve blocks at 10in finished, 202 pieces in total, each scene drawn for this pack
- 🗺️ A chapter for every block: a placement diagram drawn from the exact same geometry as the templates, the pieces and fabrics list, and the order of work
- ✂️ Full-size templates for every piece — each template page carries a 1in test square verified at exactly 72pt in the finished PDF, so everything prints at true size at 100%
- 🧵 Two ways to appliqué — Method A fusible web and Method B needle-turn — so you can pick your favourite, or mix them block by block
- 🧮 Fabric requirements for the whole quilt plus a per-block computed table, and full cutting figures for sashing, borders and binding
- 🖼️ Assembly in a 3 x 4 layout, with quilting and binding steps in rust red
🧵 TWO WAYS TO APPLIQUÉ
Whether you’re new to appliqué or coming back to it, there’s a route in: Method A (fusible web) is quick and forgiving — trace, fuse, stitch around the edge and the block is done — while Method B (needle-turn) gives you the traditional hand-finished edge. Every block chapter lays its pieces out in sewing order, and the templates in the PDF are the verified geometry itself, so what you cut is exactly what the placement diagram shows.
⭐ THE STARRY DESERT NIGHT BLOCK
The night-sky block carries the Southern Cross drawn the way it appears on the flag of Australia — exactly five stars in their true positions, the four main stars seven-pointed and little Epsilon Crucis smaller and five-pointed between Beta and Alpha. The star positions in this pattern were measured against the official flag construction and matched with zero deviation: no scatter, no extras, just the Cross as every Australian knows it.
🌿 THE AUSSIE BIT
This is the Australia beyond the coast: red rock glowing at last light, a windmill turning over the tank, spinifex and dust and huge skies. Twelve landscapes from the heart of the country, quilted one horizon at a time.
