First light in the bush comes with a soundtrack: kookaburras laughing, lorikeets squabbling in the bottlebrush, a lyrebird showing off in the fern gully. We’re Al and Tina from our Aussie family shop, and this collection quilts that chorus — twelve Australian birds appliquéd block by block onto soft pastel grounds, from a laughing kookaburra to a rainbow lorikeet in full colour, and finished with sage-green binding.
Each block finishes at 10in, and the twelve birds are built from 166 appliqué pieces in all, every bird drawn fresh for this pack.

- 🗺️ A chapter devoted to every block — a placement diagram drawn from the exact same geometry as the templates, the pieces and fabrics list, and the order of work
- ✂️ Full-size templates for every piece, each page carrying a 1in test square measured at exactly 72pt on all 19 template pages of the finished PDF, so the templates print at true size at 100%
- 🧵 Two ways to appliqué: Method A fusible web, Method B needle-turn — pick your favourite, or mix them block by block
- 🧮 Fabric requirements for the whole quilt plus a per-block computed table, and full cutting figures for sashing, borders and binding
- 🖼️ Assembly in a 3 x 4 layout, quilting and binding steps in sage green
🧵 TWO WAYS TO APPLIQUÉ
New to appliqué, or picking it up again? Method A (fusible web) is the speedy, forgiving route — trace, fuse, stitch around the edge and the block is done. Method B (needle-turn) gives the traditional hand-finished edge. Every block chapter sets its pieces out in sewing order, and the templates in the PDF are the verified geometry itself, so what you cut is exactly what the placement diagram shows.
