Description
Three little angels made to hang — from the tree, from a branch by the window, or from a hook on the wall. Every angel in this pattern is built on a cone skirt, but no two cones are worked the same way, so the set gives you three different makes in one pattern.
THE THREE ORNAMENTS
1. CLASSIC CONE ANGEL — about 11 cm (4.3 in). Her skirt is a one-piece cone worked top-down in continuous single crochet rounds with counted increases, finished with a half-double-crochet flare round that kicks the hem out. She has one curved arm piece held across her front, two layered wings at her back, and a small crocheted halo on a short stem — her hanging loop rises from the stem.
2. LACY-SHELL CONE ANGEL — about 11.4 cm (4.5 in). Her cone is worked in shell stitch — fans of five double crochet with a single crochet between shells — growing on plain rounds between the shell rounds, and ending in a shell round so the hem is scalloped. She wears her brown hair in a little crocheted bun, has flat petal wings (three small oval petals fanned together, each side), and NO halo: instead, a tiny crocheted star — a centre disc with five counted points — is stitched flat to the front of her skirt. Her hanging loop comes from the top of her head.
3. STRIPED MINI CONE ANGEL — about 9.9 cm (3.9 in). Her cone is worked in a continuous two-colour spiral — cream and wattle gold alternating every round with no joins. The pattern tells you plainly that the step where the stripes change sits at the back (that is the nature of a spiral) and positions her wings over it. She has a picot hem — 14 picots, counted — a smooth hair cap with exactly two tiny corkscrew curls at her ears, plain oval wings, and a flat gold halo ring sewn flat to her cap; her hanging loop is threaded through the halo.
Every face is embroidered — two tiny closed curves for eyes, stitched with yarn. No plastic safety eyes, no buttons, no wire anywhere. Every hanging loop is crocheted in; there are no ribbons or metal hooks to buy. The cones are hollow and hold their bell shape from the stitch tension at gauge; if your yarn is softer, the pattern includes an honest optional note about a light spray of fabric stiffener or the traditional sugar-and-water dip (buyer-supplied, never required).
WHAT YOU GET
A detailed 18-page PDF pattern (US terms with a UK conversion table) with:
– Yarn totals UP FRONT for each ornament and for the whole set — stitches, metres, yards, grams and 50 g balls per colour, worked out from the counted stitches
– Every round written out with its stitch count; shell counts, stripe rounds and picot counts all asserted from the pattern’s data model
– Wing, petal, oval and star charts drawn from the same models as the written rounds
– Step-by-step assembly and hanging notes, including how each loop attaches
– Photos of every angel, front and back, plus stitch close-ups
YARN AND SIZES
DK (8-ply) cotton with a 4.0 mm hook; gauge 20 sc sts x 24 rows = 10 cm. Five colours: Cream, White, Wattle Gold, Skin Tone and Soft Brown. The whole set of three takes 3,066 stitches and about 81.8 m (90 yards) of yarn — ONE 50 g ball of each colour makes all three angels with yarn to spare. You will also need a tapestry needle, scissors, stitch markers and a small handful of toy stuffing for each head.
SAFETY
These are hanging decorations, not toys. Hang them out of reach of children under 3, and check loops and seams before hanging each year. Every piece is sewn on — there are no detachable parts — but a decoration is not made to be chewed or slept with.
