This year-round collection from our Aussie family shop crochets the pet jumpers Vol 1's classic fit inspired: soft roll-neck jumpers that fold down cosy, hooded jumpers with the hood worn flat for everyday (up only for the photo), and step-in jumpers with a button band up the chest — the kind construction that never pulls anything over anybody's head. Every jumper carries a much-loved animal of Australia on its back, worked in tapestry crochet colourwork or as a sewn-on appliqué motif, and every pattern says honestly which.
This collection includes 12 original patterns: Koala Roll-Neck Jumper, Kangaroo Roll-Neck Jumper, Wombat Roll-Neck Jumper, Quokka Roll-Neck Jumper, Platypus Hooded Jumper, Echidna Hooded Jumper, Kookaburra Hooded Jumper, Cockatoo Hooded Jumper, Wallaby Step-In Jumper, Bilby Step-In Jumper, Tasmanian Devil Step-In Jumper and Emu Step-In Jumper.
Each of the 12 patterns includes:
• A dedicated photo page showing a pet wearing that jumper — roll neck, folded-down hood or button band visible
• Pattern-at-a-glance box (type, all five sizes, pieces, yarn, level)
• Full round-by-round and row-by-row instructions in US crochet terms, with the stitch count stated at the end of every round and row
• The shared sized ladder from Vol 1 in three constructions: roll-neck (tube body plus an 8-round roll-neck tube), hooded (tube body plus a flat hood piece exactly half the body width, seamed at the top), and step-in (two flat panels in the same split widths, side seams with leg-opening gaps, and a counted button band)
• FIVE sizes by chest measurement: XS about 25 cm (40 sts), S about 35 cm (56 sts), M about 45 cm (72 sts), L about 60 cm (96 sts), XL about 75 cm (120 sts) — back lengths about 20 / 28 / 35 / 45 / 52 cm, with the roll neck and hood sitting above/behind and never counted in the length
• A Measure Your Pet guide in the getting-started pages: measure the chest behind the front legs, choose the size by that measurement, two-finger ease — dogs and cats wear the same five sizes
• One Aussie-animal motif per jumper with its technique stated honestly: tapestry crochet colourwork chart panel (20 sts x 16 rows) or appliqué motif sewn on
• A fit line and a safety line in every pattern: supervise wear, comfortable fit, no dangling parts, buttons sewn firmly, hoods up only for short supervised photo moments, remove the jumper if your pet chews it
• DK yarn and a 4 mm hook throughout; step-in jumpers also need 5 flat buttons, about 15 mm
Australia's favourites — koala, kangaroo, wombat and quokka in roll necks; platypus, echidna, kookaburra and cockatoo under hoods; wallaby, bilby, Tasmanian devil and emu stepping in — bring an Aussie touch to winter walks, family photos and the present pile. An Aussie jumper for every pet and every dressing temperament: the diva gets a roll neck, the shy one gets a hood to retreat under, and the head-shy one steps in and buttons up.
Skill level: Confident beginner. If you can work half double crochet in rounds and flat, and sew a firm button, you can crochet every jumper in this book.
