Description
🧸 Aussie Animals Amigurumi Vol 3 — Big & Cuddly: 12 original crochet patterns (PDF, 53 pages).
The Aussie crew at full cuddle size — large plush versions of the same twelve Australian animals, each about 30 cm tall, from our Aussie family shop. These are worked in chunky/bulky yarn with a 6.0 mm hook (stated honestly — the same patterns in DK would come out at roughly half the size), with big sphere-ladder bodies and heads, soft stuffing, and every join sewn twice because big plush are heavy. The result is a proper armful: reading-chair, bed-time, sofa-companion Aussie plush.
This collection includes 12 original patterns: Big Koala (about 30 cm), Big Kangaroo with Joey (about 31 cm; joey about 9 cm), Big Wombat (about 28 cm), Big Quokka (about 29 cm), Big Platypus (about 28 cm), Big Echidna (about 28 cm, plus spikes), Big Kookaburra (about 30 cm), Big Cockatoo (about 31 cm including crest), Big Wallaby (about 30 cm), Big Bilby (about 33 cm including ears), Big Tasmanian Devil (about 29 cm) and Big Emu (about 33 cm).
Each of the 12 patterns includes:
• Its own dedicated solo photo — every big plush photographed individually, no repeats
• Pattern-at-a-glance box (type, honest finished size from the stated chunky gauge, pieces, yarn, level)
• Full round-by-round instructions in US crochet terms ONLY, with the stitch count stated at the end of EVERY round and row (880 counted rounds and rows in this book)
• Asserted amigurumi sphere ladders for bodies and heads (magic ring increases to a stated maximum, plain rounds, mirror decreases), plus a bigger chunky limb ladder and ears, muzzles, bills and beaks as separate pieces with their own counts
• Big-scale details: the kangaroo's generous pouch with a proper little joey, the echidna's 12 chunky cream spikes, and the cockatoo's 5 fanned crest spikes
• Step-by-step assembly (with the two-pass sewing rule for heavy pieces) and a maker's tip for every animal
• An honest eyes note in every pattern: safety eyes are fine for older children and collectors — embroidered eyes recommended if the toy is for a child under 3
Crochet one big plush as a statement gift, a bilby for a child's bed, an emu for the reading chair, or work through the whole Australian crew as the ultimate handmade collection. The animals are Australia's own — koalas, kangaroos, wombats, quokkas, platypuses, echidnas, kookaburras, cockatoos, wallabies, bilbies, Tassie devils and emus — and Aussie makers and Australia-lovers alike will recognise every face. Chunky/bulky yarn, a 6.0 mm (US J-10) hook and a generous bag of fibre fill are all you need — big plush eat stuffing, so have plenty on hand.
Skill level: Confident beginner. If you can work a magic ring, single crochet, increases and decreases, you can make this crew — chunky yarn works up fast and forgives a lot.
